Gensōmaden Saiyūki: Requiem

The plot is very simple though, as we catch up the foursome as they’re continuing along in their journey and having just defeated a massive batch of demons that were sent after them, are just looking for a place to settle in for the night. Their lives are never easy though and before they know it, a young woman appears in front of their headlights and races away after she warns them to run as a huge flying beast is chasing her. Being the gentleman that they are, they get involved in all of this and spend some time trying to defeat it. Sanzo’s actually surprised that his banishment gun doesn’t work before he realizes they’re dealing with something very powerful, a shikigami.

Thankful for saving her life, the young woman is introduced as Houran and she offers to bring them back to her masters residence where they can eat and regain their strength before continuing on their journey. The residence is actually quite massive and looks like the main place could house hundreds of servants, never mind the apparent town down below. Something about all of it is quite unsettling to Hakkai and Sanzo but both keep counsel until they’re able to speak privately later after Houran offers them each their own minor residence to sleep in for the night. It’s at this point that things start to get interesting as someone begins to imitate the form of the friends and starts stalking them in an attempt to kill each of them.

Paralleling all of this, we get to follow Kougaiji who are still on the trail of the foursome and they come across the battle that lead to the forest where Houran was discovered. It’s through this group with their wider knowledge of demons that we start to learn some of the history of the area and of the former Lord that ruled the mansions and town where the heroes no reside and are being stalked. They get to do things a bit more rough and tumble as they want to get closer to Sanzo and company so they can take them down which means we get to see some larger action scenes via their movements while the quieter and more deadly attacks go on inside the mansions.

As all of this progresses with illusions being used heavily, we slowly start to get the story to unravel and its links to the past start to become apparent and before we know it we’ve got exposition that’s detailing the villains history and why he’s after them. It really does play out much like a small arc of TV episodes with a villain from the past who wants to set things right in his own deranged mind with those who he thinks wronged him. The character, Dogan, is an interesting design with the masks and the feathered shoulder but it just doesn’t seem like his origins would allow him to become something like that based on his nature, but such is what you get with vengeance and vendetta’s being on your mind as you acquire darker powers.

Nung bumalik si Tito Lorman

Bumalik si Tito Lorman from Middle East, a few days after Tito Bebe and Tita Suzanne return here in the Philippines. I was surprised upon seeing him, dahil mas lalo siyang tumaba. While eating, we had a little conversation about our career as nurses (or shall I say his career, since I’m not employed yet). I noticed that Lee, his son, constantly calling him. I’m sure Lee missed his papa so much after not seeing him for long time. By the way, thanks Tito Lorman for the t-shirt, I really like it! With Joyce and others, we watched another movie –  2012, a film by Roland Emerich, my favorite director for disaster-genre films.

Dumating si Tito Bebe, along with Tita Suzanne, from Chicago. I had an important appointment on Guadalupe that day kaya na-late akong dumating sa kabilang bahay. Nandoon na silang lahat (excluding Ibang) nung dumating ako. I greeted Tito Bebe and Tita Suzanne and had hugged each other after not seeing them for almost a decade. I feel so happy to see them since we only communicate through Bryan’s laptop. After naming kumain ng mga hinandang pagkain, we set-up their Samsung 27″ LCD TV and Home Theater System. I was captivated in the movie-like features of the Home Theatre System, it’s like you’re really watching in a cinema due to its surround sounds. Meanwhile, we got our pasalubong – I got a Calvin Klein liquid cotton shirt, a D3 Dockers pants and a Versace Pour Homme. Thanks Tito Bebe and Tita Suzanne! After, hinatid na kami ni Tito Edwin pabalik sa bahay.

The Horribly Slow Murderer With The Extremely Inefficient Weapon

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon is a 10 minute film short that was released in 2008. It was filmed entirely in California over the course of 22 days. It was written, directed, and narrated by Richard Gale. The weapon referred to in the title is a spoon. The film won the Special Jury Prize at the Austin Fantastic Fest, the Best Short Film award at the Fant-Asia Film Festival, and the Citizen’s Choice Award and the Grand Prize for Short Film at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival, and was named the Best Short Film of 2009 by Rue Morgue Magazine. It was shot on a budget of $600, on a Panasonic HVX200 digital video camera and edited on Final Cut Pro.

What the heck is ham doing on my blog? I’m a vegetarian.

Back on my old blog site (ian_cyberlounge), I always encounters unsolicited bulk comments from unknown users. I had a hard time deleting these so-called spam comments since I received 5 of ’em each day. From simple “cool page” & “nice website” to uncontrollable commercial indexing (the funny Viagra stuff), these junks often freak me out. Thanks to Akismet that kills 18,000,000,000 (thats 18 billion) spams so far. When a new comment, trackback, or pingback comes to the site it is submitted to the Akismet web service which runs hundreds of tests on the comment and returns a thumbs up or thumbs down. There are a number of competitors to Akismet, including Mollom, Defensio, and Typepad Antispam. In addition, image or math CAPTCHA plugins are also widely used instead of Akismet. Here’s the link to their website:
